What a strange week we have had! Elder Bennett got a kidney stone (so we think) on Tuesday night & struggled with it all day Wednesday. We finally got him to Dr. Nickell, then home to rest. He had a rough night but was free of pain by Thursday morning, sore but no pain. We took Thursday off, not knowing if he would be ok. It appears that he is going to be just fine now-yaaaaahh.
We are preparing for transfers this week & new arrivals tomorrow.

Our Thanksgiving is shaping up to be very different this year. We had a site meeting on Wednesday where President Hemingway spoke to us about being on the Lord errand & holding to the iron rod. Basically it was about obedience & obeying council. He is desirous of ALL missionaries - including the senior couples - going out into the community, helping in soup kitchens where possible, contacting shut-ins & meeting with new contacts, less active & part member families for both Thanksgiving & Christmas. We are desirous of obeying the council given so are now exploring possibilities of activity. Cami mentioned that that was how she spent her Thanksgiving on her mission & had a great experience doing so. The Lord never gives direction without providing the opportunity. We are looking forward in anticipation.
The weather has turned off cold. This week is predicted to be in the 30’s as a high & 20’s as the lows. It has rained all weekend & looks very much like winter. We know it’s coming but I am not looking forward to the cold. All is well here. We are healthy (finally) & happy in the service of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. How thankful we are to be in His service, to have His spirit to be with us and to have the MANY BLESSINGS He pours out upon us each day.
Love you all,
Elder & Sister Bennett

Congratultions to PapaCaro. I am glad he lived thru the pain of a K stone. Thanks for your note and concern for Mom...She is still doing well...both Mom and Dad are slowing down about 10%... She just called me from the library at church...phone in the bottom of her purse hits the floor kinda call. She tells me dad strained his back rakin' leaves or prunin' roses, or ridin' his mower this week(I think he discovered it beats rakin' but he has to dump the bins a lot) Anyway, I hope everything continues to go well..I love the plan of activisim on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Yesterday a guy who works for me had a birthday..just separated from his wife, living alone..nobody to celebrate his birthday with him...I took him out for dinner for his birthday and spent two hours just talking about our best birthdays, it was like I had given him the world. Imagine being 50 and having no one close with whom you could celebrate a birthday...
I think Thanksgiving and Christmas are a lot like that...my suggestion is to find the SINGLE people who might celebrate those days ALONE...maybe even help get a few of them together...
In the hierarchy of spiritual needs, above preaching the gospel or anything of that motive...is loving someone enough to let them know you care about them even if they are not an "enthusiastic candidate for baptism or deeper commitments", but a human being that needs love and real caring...so often manifest best by someone who knows how to express that love...like those of us do, who have been loved all our lives have come to understand what that really means.
So good to hear from you and have new posts to read. You are probably GREAT help in the office...and I loved reading all about your new assignments. Glad that you are still living close to mom and dad so you can connect once in a while now that you are reassigned. Love to you both on Thanksgiving...we are thankful for examples like you! love ya!
